Mali in control against Burkina Faso
In the first semi-final, Mali beat Burkina Faso (2-0) at Stade El Arbi Zaouli. The meeting between the two national teams had been eagerly anticipated, but the young Malians controlled the match throughout. Soumaila Fané (42nd) and Mahamadou Traoré (74th) scored the goals that sent Mali’s youth side into another final.
Burkina Faso will face Ivory Coast in the U17 AFCON classification match on 18 April.
Morocco and Ivory Coast separated by penalties
The match between Ivory Coast and Morocco lived up to expectations at El Bachir stadium in Mohammédia. There were missed chances and spells of possession for both sides. The closing minutes, in particular, favoured the young Atlas Lions, who gained the upper hand without breaking through the opposition defence. After a 0-0 draw, the two teams were separated by a penalty shootout, which Morocco won with 4 successful kicks to 3.
