Morocco win the derby
Morocco, who nearly didn't travel to Algeria for this U17 AFCON, are through to the semi-finals. In the quarter-final, the Atlas Lion Cubs thrashed hosts Algeria. Final score 3-0. The standout performer was Zakaria Ouazane. The striker, wearing number 18, tormented the Algerians with a double (28th, 57th). Adam Chakir (86th) then added a late goal to seal the result.
Morocco have booked their place in the semi-finals of this U17 AFCON. The Moroccans have also qualified for the U17 World Cup. For Algeria it is a bitter disappointment, as the aim was to go all the way in this tournament on home soil.

Amara Diouf and Senegal imperious
Sérigne Saliou Dia, the Senegal coach, had asked his players to be more clinical in front of goal. Well, he got his wish. His side blew South Africa away on Wednesday in the quarter-final of this U17 AFCON. Final score 5-0.
And naturally, Senegal relied on Amara Diouf. The Génération Foot youngster scored a double (56th, 71st). He is now the top scorer at this U17 AFCON with 5 goals. Rennecke (own goal, 35th), Abdou Aziz Fall (37th) and Sadio (43rd) were the other scorers for the Lion Cubs. The win, which sends them into the semi-finals, also secures Senegal's place at the U17 World Cup, which takes place at the end of the year.
The last two quarter-finals of this U17 AFCON take place on Thursday, with Mali v Congo and Nigeria v Burkina Faso.
