With a few days to go until the start of the seventh edition of the African Nations Championship in Algeria (13 January-4 February), Senegal's home-based national team continue their preparations. Currently on a training camp in Tabarka, Tunisia, Pape Thiaw and his squad have had two days of training ahead of their friendly against Niger this Friday, 6 January. In an interview with the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) media channel, the head coach of the local Lions, Pape Thiaw, reviewed the work his group have put in since the start of the preparation camp in Tunisia.

"We have arrived safely in Tabarka. So far, we have had two days of training. The first session allowed us to work on recovery to shake off the fatigue of the journey. The second session let us try out different systems of play. We also worked on coordination between the forwards," the Senegalese coach said in a video published on the Senegalese Football Federation's Facebook page.

The coach of Senegal's home-based team went on: "This Friday, our team will play Niger in a friendly and on 9 January we will face Congo. The team is calm and we are preparing well with a good mentality, which stood out, by the way, in the two training sessions. The players want to impress in the competition and I like the mindset of my group."
