Monaco are having a very good season, and the club's directors clearly want it to continue. They have just strengthened their squad with a notable signing. La Roca Team have recruited Chima Moneke. The Nigerian big man is coming off a wholly unsuccessful spell in the NBA, where he played just two games for the Kings, but he remains a proven performer well known in Europe.
Chima Moneke performed well in Spain. Last season, he reached the Champions League final with Manresa Basket, and was named MVP of the competition. He will therefore try to help Monaco hold on to top spot in the French league and keep competing with the best in the EuroLeague, where the French club are second, just behind Real Madrid. "I chose Monaco because the coach, the GM and the president showed a great deal of interest in me, and did so directly. I felt wanted by the club and they believe I can really bring something to this team. They won me over immediately and, on top of that, the goals are high. I also really liked the idea of living in Monaco, I want to live a peaceful, happy life," said the 27-year-old player, quoted by basketusa.
Chima Moneke has also played in France before, at Orléans and Rouen.
