CAF Confederation Cup: 10 wins, 7 draws and 1 walkover to get things under way

The 1st leg of the preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup was played between Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 August. The main takeaway is that some surprise sides secured the essentials at home before the return leg, scheduled for 26 and 27 August.

Tanzania's Azam lost in Ethiopia to Bahir Dar Kenema (2-1). Just like Olympique Béja of Tunisia, who were stunned (0-1) at home by Libya's Abu Salim. Burkina Faso's Etoile Filante pulled off a big result by holding Senegal's Casa Sport to a draw (1-1) in this first round of the preliminaries of the CAF Confederation Cup. Stade Malien, however, made a statement away at Liberia's Watanga with a convincing win (1-3).
