That is the first preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup done and dusted. In the second legs, played between Friday and Sunday 27 August, the results on the pitch brought joy for some and heartbreak for others. FUS Rabat can still celebrate their place in the second round of the CAF Confederation Cup. The Moroccans won 0-2 away to FC Loto (Benin) after taking the first leg 3-0, so the FUS players kept up their consistency.

Etoile Filante de Ouagadougou (EFO) were also solid at home, holding Casa Sport (Senegal) to a goalless draw. The Burkinabè had done a smart job in the first leg by scoring an away goal, which secures their place in the second round of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Botswana's Gaborone United also got the job done in Madagascar, where Elgeco Plus were well beaten on their own pitch (1-3). After the 1-0 first-leg win, they pulled off a big result in Tana to reach the next stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.
