Confederation Cup: Asec knocked out in Algeria

Ivory Coast's representatives have reached the end of their run in the 2023 Confederation Cup. The Mimosas lost to USM Alger at the 5 July Stadium by two goals to 0 in the semi-final second leg. Sloppy in their passing and outplayed in midfield, the Ivorians were punished by the Algerians' clinical finishing. Khaled Bousseliou (28th minute, 1-0) and Ismail Belkacem (80th minute, 2-0) were the tormentors of the Yellow and Blacks. Asec bow out in the semi-finals, taking with them Ivory Coast's hopes of regaining their 4 places in CAF's interclub competition allocation.
