Seventeen years on, Asec Mimosas have qualified for the semi-finals of an African competition. The Mimosas beat US Monastir this afternoon by 2 goals to 0 (0-0 in the first leg) in the Confederation Cup second leg. A superb free kick from Zouzou Carlos late in the first half (source notation: “1-0,45e+1”) and a crisp strike from Zouzoua Pacôme (2-0, 90th minute) at the end of the game sent Asec into the last four.

The last time the Mimos reached this stage of an African cup was in 2006. Back then, the Ivorians were knocked out by Egypt's Al Ahly of Cairo after losing by 2 to 0 in the first leg and winning by 2 goals to 1 in the second.
