The Daring Club Motema Pembe is emerging from a long financial crisis that had prevented its proper functioning for several years. In fact, the club’s general treasurer, Salem Kasembele, and the deputy general secretary of the team, Omer Makutu, announced that DCMP has paid all the debts it had regarding its former Italian coaches and former foreign players who had taken the matter to FIFA.
665,000 dollars in government aid
This situation had greatly affected the club, which at first found itself unable to obtain the CAF license to take part in the CAF interclubs competitions, before later being docked 24 points during the last Illicocash Ligue 1 national championship, resulting in its relegation to the second division.
Among the concerned players are notably Isaac Ogbona, Peter Kolawole, Broulaye Sangaré, Souleymane Traoré, Arsène Loko, and also Carter Ahiro. These debts weighed the club down for nearly 10 years. And to settle them, Daring Club Motema Pembe received nearly 665,000 US dollars from the Congolese government, funds which, according to sources close to the club, correspond to claims from one of its recent participations in CAF interclub competitions. However, two cases are still in the process of being resolved: those of coaches Isaac Ngata and Otis Ngoma.
The committee disavowed by the board of directors
After paying off the debts, the club president, Paul Kasembele, sent a message of peace to all Imaniens from Belgium, where he is currently located: « May everyone look in the same direction so as to finally allow the team to move forward for good. » But this message did not calm matters at all; in fact, the club’s board of directors, meeting in an extraordinary session, disavowed the management committee for several grievances, including:
the prolonged absence of the chairman of the management committee, Paul Kasembele, resulting in the paralysis of the normal functioning of the club’s executive body;
the interim management of the committee presidency by a board member, even though the club statutes provide that such an interim should be carried out by a statutory vice-president from a sports section (chapter 4, articles 22 and 23);
the management committee’s refusal to participate in the working session convened by the Minister of Sports and Leisure, which was dedicated to examining the issue of DCMP’s claims against third parties, thereby depriving the club of an important opportunity to defend its interests;
public statements made by the deputy general secretary, Omer Makutu, which, in the opinion of the board of directors, do not at all reflect the club’s real situation and do not comply with current statutory provisions;
the lack of and refusal for collaboration with the other organs of the club;
the desertion of several members of the management committee, notably the general secretary, the president of the football section, and others;
the holding of the ordinary general assembly in violation of the club’s statutory provisions.
In response, the management committee rejected this disavowal, a situation that may perhaps lead the club into a new crisis.
