Football: Africans who shine in the Saudi Pro League

Fashion Sakala – Al Feiha
At 29 years old, the Zambian striker is the top scorer in Africa in the Saudi Pro League this season. Fashion Sakala scored 11 goals and delivered 4 assists in 26 games. Performances that have helped Al Feiha to position himself at a nice 9th place in the standings, but also which increase his rating on the market, with RC Lens as contender for the next summer transfer window.

Sadio Mané – Al-Nassr
The Lion is now roaring at the speed of his age. At 33, Sadio Mané no longer has fire legs like he did a few years ago in Liverpool. However, he is far from being abandoned by the other African stars of the Saudi Pro League. Mané is the second best African scorer in the Saudi league this season, with 9 goals and 5 assists in 21 games. His club, Al-Nassr, is at the top of the table and heading for his first national title since 2019.

Said Benrahma – Neom SC
At 30 years old, Said Benrahma is wearing Neom SC this season, with Alexandre Lacazette and Luciano Rodriguez. The Algerian left-winger is the best African passer in the Saudi Pro League this season, with 7 assists in 24 matches. He also scored 6 goals, enough to allow him to pass in front of Riyad Mahrez (3 goals and 7 assists in 23 games).

Edouard Mendy – Al Ahli
At 34, Edouard Mendy has lost none of his reflexes, let alone his relaxation. The Senegalese goalkeeper holds the highest total of clean sheets (12 in 21 games) in the Saudi Pro League this season, tied with Bento, goalkeeper of Al-Nassr. Mendy is a real wall that allows Les Verts to stay in the race for the Top 3. He leads Yassine Bounou (10 clean sheets in 20 games).

Mamadou Sylla – Al Riyadh
If he is less known to the others, Mamadou Sylla does not achieve a less impressive season. In a team of Al Riyad that is in the relegation zone (16th), the 32-year-old Senegalese striker is one of the few sparks with his 8 goals and 2 assists in 24 games.
