Football - Chad: Resumption of the national championship after three years

Few African nations have experienced as many problems in football development as the case with Chad.. Between unfinished projects and suspensions decreed by FIFA for political interference and security problems, Chad has never really been able to rely on a clear and established program in order to make its local talents work.

Almost systematically eliminated in the first or second round of African club competitions, the Chadian teams try as best they can to build themselves, either thanks to a sponsor (Foullah Edifice), or multinational companies (Elect-Sport FC of the national electric power company or Renaissance FC with the Chinese construction company CGCOC and the Franco-British oil company Perenco), an active executive office (Gazelle Football Club) or strong political ties like the winner of the last provincial tournament in N'Djamena, AS PSI.



Priorities: Relaunching the championship and women’s football
Since his election last March, the president of the FTFA, Tahir Oloy Hassan, has begun a restructuring of national football, of the national team (with a new staff, the arrival of binationals and better organization), from the status of players to women’s football. (creation of the women’s LINAFOOT and a victorious selection for the FIFA UNITES: Women’s Series 2025 in November, which allowed Sao Dames to integrate for the first time into the FIFA ranking) and the men’s championship.

An executive office of fifteen people was thus appointed to take over the male LINAFOOT with Abakar Hunwanou as president. Benefiting from a less worrying security situation than a few years ago, the idea was not to limit oneself to the teams in the capital but to propose a real league representing the various Chadian regions.

Several provinces represented
The 23 provincial leagues affiliated to the FTFA therefore each organized a respective championship. After other meetings, twelve winning teams were chosen to participate in the 2025/2026 season of LINAFOOT.

In addition to three formations from the capital, including the Aiglons – which have a real training project -, AS PSI and Elect-Sport, there are clubs scattered throughout the territory such as Scorpion from the province of Borkou in the north, UDM FC, the University of Moundou in the south, Elephant FC at Am Timan in the southeast or Espoir FC at Bongor, in the southwest on the border with Cameroon.

Foullah Edifice, AS Santé d'Abéché, Aiglons FC of Hadjer Lamis, Elan Derby de Pala and FC Onape de Doba complete this championship which started on Saturday for a total of twenty-two days.
