Massively shared on WhatsApp, a conversation in the Malinke language between a Guinean first division player and the president of the FGF ignited an already boiling football atmosphere.
In this excerpt, Sory Doumbouya explains to the player that he wishes to recruit him for his club, Milo FC, of which he is president of the Board of Directors, in order to win the title. In order to convince the interested party, the boss of the federation promises to intervene for him to join the national team by citing the example of "Nainggolan", the nickname of Alhassane Bangoura, spent with Milo FC before being transferred for about 200,000 euros to the Mouloudia Club of Algiers while having joined the Guinean selection.
The Public Prosecutor has been notified
Very quickly, Abdoul Karim Bangoura, former captain of the Sily National, referred the case to the Public Prosecutor of the Court of First Instance of Kaloum:
"Such actions, if they were proven, could amount to unfair competition, a clear conflict of interest, or even acts likely to involve corruption and trading in influence."
A second division team, Kaloum Football Club, has also filed a complaint with the FGF and FIFA Ethics Committee for "abuse of power and violations of the FIFA Code of Ethics", notably articles 16 (duty of loyalty) and 26.
Another important point is that the FGF statutes stipulate that "any person elected to the Executive Committee must immediately resign from their position within a member, a dismemberment or an organ of the FGF". In other words: Doumboouya cannot have a role within an FGF and the club of Milo FC.
A president already very isolated
In a federation in perpetual crisis having dismissed former president Bouba Sampil following a litany of scandals, calm has not returned at all.
Increasingly isolated, Sory Doumbouya has to face the obvious grumblings of several members of the Executive Committee, not to mention the rivalries and worries with some members of the Ministry of Sports.
An endless political battle coupled with a precarious economic situation, as Sport News Africa revealed a few months ago with the colossal unpaid debts to the agency Sport Edge.
And if the case of coach Duarte is currently being discussed, other issues are even more serious. As a reminder, the former president of the referees' commission, Aboubacar Mario Bangoura, had mentioned:
"If you are not with certain people, if you are not supposed to fake the results, they are not happy."
Which clearly shows that the problem is much deeper than a president replacing another in endless power struggles...
