France - Ligue 1: the indispensable Seko Fofana

A world-class player, but above all a leader of the kind the Elephants are missing. On the scoresheet against Reims on Friday 12 May 2023, Seko Fofana once again showed the full range of his talent on home turf at Lens' Stade Bollaert. The Ivory Coast international helped his side consolidate second place in the Ligue 1 table with 75 points, behind PSG (81 points). In Côte d'Ivoire, his top-class performances have left nobody indifferent. Most fans online, who were effusive in their praise after his outstanding display against the Reims side, simply say he should be handed the keys to the national team. It remains to be seen whether he will be in the June squad, having missed the March one against the Comoros.
