Less than a month after the postponement of the 2026 Women’s AFCON, another African Cup will be reprogrammed, in this case that of futsal.
Organized in Morocco for the third consecutive time, the event was supposed to start in April. Nevertheless, according to the information gathered by Sport News Africa, a postponement is planned for next September or October.
A repeated scenario
Although no official announcement has yet been made, the futsal AFCON is part of the rich programme of the Executive Committee meeting on Sunday 29 March. Problem, the agenda is so full that its evocation risks, as often, falling into the trap.
Nevertheless, the scenario seems to be repeated endlessly. For years, the CAF has been soliciting Morocco to host various events.
Accepting to take charge of the organization, the Kingdom had even become the host land of futsal by hosting the AFCON 2020 and 2024 where the Lions were also crowned (as in 2016 in South Africa).
It remains to be seen from now on when the CAF will announce to the participants that their preparation serves no purpose given the imminent postponement.
