The year's opening competition, organised by the Association Sportive Ivoire Golf Club (ASIGC) on Saturday 22 April at the Ivoire Golf Club course, attracted 90 golfers in a good atmosphere. Aware that nothing can be achieved amid instability, Emmanuel Koffi, president of the Côte d'Ivoire golf federation, seized the moment to set out a long list of upcoming activities and competitions. The city of Yamoussoukro will host the Côte d'Ivoire Open from 18 to 24 June, with more than 200 international participants. There will also be the national championship and the African golf confederations championship in Abidjan, as well as youth competitions. It is a fairly rich season that should mark the big comeback of Ivorian golf.
In the prizes from the season-opening tournament, the long drive award went to Tapsoba Siaka, who, with his team-mate Jonathan Valette, also won the team Gross event. The Net category was won by Carvalheira Ricardo, with his team-mate Almeira Tiago. Carvalheira Ricardo was named best player of the competition. Around ten other players also received prizes.
