Kaylia Némour is arguably Algeria's best medal hope at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The world silver medallist on the uneven bars is also a real boon for the land of the Fennecs. Born and raised in France, where she trained, the 17-year-old gymnast chose to represent her country of origin following a disagreement with the French Gymnastics Federation. Her goal now is to win gold at the Paris Olympics. She is one of the favourites on the uneven bars. "Let's not kid ourselves, I'm aiming for Olympic gold on the uneven bars", she says in an interview with BeIN Sports.

Having only opted for Algeria in 2023, Kaylia Némour has already brought the country three medals: a silver at the World Gymnastics Championships in Antwerp in 2023, and two gold medals in the World Cup, at the legs in Cottbus (Germany) on 24 February and Baku (Azerbaijan) on 9 March. She is clearly thrilled to compete under the Algerian banner. "I was really so happy to have won this medal and to have heard the Algerian national anthem. It makes my family, Algeria and the coaches proud. It gives me a boost and it's incredible", she exclaimed after her gold medal in Baku.
All of Algeria is now counting on her to win a gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics. In Tokyo, the North African nation came home empty-handed.
