In this exclusive interview with Sport News Africa, young Benin international defensive midfielder Hassane Imourane (9 caps for the Benin Cheetahs) discusses his loan to Grasshopper, his goals and the next steps in his career.

What memories do you have of your time at Modern Sport in Egypt?

Hassane Imourane: I have very fond memories of my time in Egypt. At Moderne Future, I met exceptional people who did everything they could to give me the best possible conditions. I won't forget their support.

Why did you choose Grasshopper Club Zurich?

Hassane Imourane: Of the offers I had, Grasshopper's appealed to me most and was the best fit for what I was looking for.

Are you happy to be at Grasshopper?

Hassane Imourane: Of course. And I'm very motivated by the prospect of playing for the club. It's wonderful to be in Zurich.

How are you feeling with your new club so far?

Hassane Imourane: Good. My first impressions of the club are very positive. I hope my stay will be a pleasant one and I'll do my best to repay the trust they have placed in me.

What are your goals with the club?

Grasshopper struggled to stay in the top flight last season. My first aim is to help them stay up more comfortably this season. I hope to settle into European football quickly, put in good performances, and we'll see what comes next.

You have been a Benin international since March 2023. How do you feel in the national team set-up?

I feel very good. It's like a family, and the atmosphere is excellent. I've always dreamed of representing my country, and it's a childhood dream come true for me. I always wear the yellow shirt with great pride and a determination to give my very best.

How do you see the rest of your career going?

I prefer to take things one step at a time. I try to do things as well as I can today, and tomorrow we'll see what happens, hoping it will be even better.
