A disappointed Julien Chevalier spoke at full-time on 17 May 2023 after his side's defeat and elimination by USM Alger in the CAF Confederation Cup semi-final. The French coach of ASEC Mimosas felt his players were undone by a lack of experience. "We withstood the heavy pressure they put on us well at the start. And just when we thought the danger had passed, that's when we conceded the first goal. We weren't alert enough. It was the same for the 2nd goal. A lack of experience at this level cost us the game", said Chevalier. Even so, the Mimos coach is not writing off the whole campaign. He was keen to praise his players, who had a satisfactory tournament. "I want to pay tribute to my players, who fought well throughout the whole campaign", he said, before outlining what lies ahead for ASEC this season. "We are going to focus on domestic competitions, with the league and the national cup remaining our priorities for the rest of the season."
