It looks a tough assignment for Raja, but not an impossible one. On matchday two of the Champions League, Raja travel to Tanzania to take on Simba SC. The side beaten by Horoya on matchday one (1-0) in Group B are like a wounded animal. The Tanzanians will certainly not want to follow that with a second defeat in this competition, which would seriously damage their chances of reaching the second round of the Champions League. The Moroccans of Raja know what awaits them.
Especially as the president of Simba SC, Murtaza Mangungu, has called on all supporters to turn out in force to back the team. And even the president of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan, has promised to pay the club's players a sizeable bonus if they beat Raja.
The Greens do have their own strengths, though. Raja posted the biggest win of matchday one, a manita (5-0) against Vipers SC of Uganda.
CR Belouizdad v Espérance Tunis, what a clash!
This second round of Champions League matches also offers a heavyweight clash, a final in all but name, you could say. The Algerians of CR Belouizdad host the Tunisians of Espérance. Winners by 1-0 away at Zamalek, CR Belouizdad quickly showed their ambitions in Group D, regarded as the group of death. So did Espérance Tunis, who made a good start to this Champions League by beating the Sudanese side Al-Merreikh.
