Twice trailing Mamelodi Sundowns, Wydad hung on and levelled each time to draw 2-2 and reach another CAF Champions League final. The Moroccans, the holders, will face the same opponents as last season, Al Ahly.
It will be the 3rd time the two sides have met at this stage of the competition, after 2017 and 2022. Surprising as it may seem, it is the Moroccans who won both previous finals against the giants of Al Ahly.
For the Egyptian heavyweights, ten-time winners of the competition, it will be a remarkable 6th final in the last 7 editions. Beaten by WAC last year (2-0), the Egyptians have lost two finals in a row before, in 2017 and 2018. Will they suffer the same fate again? In any case, WAC have never won back-to-back titles (1992, 2017, 2022). Fans will find out over the weekend of 10-11 June, a week after the first leg.
