CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup: groups revealed
The CAF has made the draw for its club competitions and, as ever, some cracking ties are in store.

The CAF Champions League groups are now set. Holders Wydad Casablanca have been drawn in Group A. The Casablanca side will face Atlético Petróleos de Luanda (Angola), followed by a North African derby against JS Kabylie of Algeria. The final team in the group is AS Vita Club of Congo. Group B promises plenty of spectacle, with Al Ahly (Egypt), Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa), El Hilal (Sudan) and Coton Sport (Cameroon).
The CAF has also been tough on the teams in Group D, which contains Espérance de Tunis, Zamalek (Egypt), CR Belouizdad (Algeria) and Al Merreikh (Sudan).
CAF Confederation Cup
In the Confederation Cup, some big names have not been spared. TP Mazembe can vouch for that, as the Congolese club, who dropped down from the Champions League, find themselves in a potentially tricky Group D with US Monastir (Tunisia), Young Africans (Tanzania) and AS Real Bamako (Mali). Another side who dropped down from the Champions League, Asec Mimosas, will be in Group B with Nigerian side Rivers United, Diables Noirs from Brazzaville in Congo, and DCMP from Kinshasa in Congo. Also worth noting are two Egyptian clubs in Group C, Pyramids FC and Future FC, who will be joined by Moroccan side AS FAR.
For the Confederation Cup schedule, the source gives 12 February as the start of the first matchday and 2 April as the end date, without clarifying the latter’s scope.
