The transfer window is in full swing ahead of the resumption of the Ligue 1 Lonaci. Four new players are set to join Sporting Club de Gagnoa in the coming days. The club president and mayor of Gagnoa, Yssouf Diabaté, posted photos on his social media accounts on Wednesday 1 February showing the new recruits holding up the club shirt. The Bleu-Jaune have signed Kouamé Roméo and Dépodé Jacob, in addition to Yao Alphonse, known as Fonsinho, and Sagni Stéphane, who arrived before them. The Ligue 1 season resumes this weekend. And Sporting Club de Gagnoa, knocked out early in the 2022-2023 Confederation Cup, intend to live up to their status as runners-up. With this group and their players back from the CHAN, including Goua Marc and Traoré Issif, the club from the west want to keep competing at the top of the league.

Two familiar strikers

Gagnoa have therefore signed two out-and-out strikers who know the Ligue 1 in Côte d'Ivoire very well. Fonsinho made his name at Asec before trying his luck abroad in spells that came to nothing, while Sagni spent two years as the spearhead of the Africa Sports attack before a row over administrative documents scuppered his transfer to Ajaccio in France and derailed his career.
