Things could well change at AS Monaco for Senegalese duo Krépin Diatta and Ismail Jakobs. The first, a starter before the World Cup, was disappointing with the Lions in Qatar. The wide forward watched the whole of the ASM game from the bench as they beat AJ Auxerre (3-2). His compatriot Ismail Jakobs, who had a good World Cup, appears to have won the trust of Monaco coach Philippe Clément. Having started only three games in the first 15 league rounds, Jakobs was in the starting XI on Wednesday. And it was he who provided the assist for his side's 3rd goal.
Another World Cup player to make a decisive impact: Karl Toko Ekambi. Barely noticed with Cameroon, the Cameroonian winger was very lively in Lyon's win over Brest (4-2). He set up Lyon's 4th goal, scored by Têté. Benin's Steve Mounié, for his part, pulled one back with a header for Brest.
Besides Mounié, three other African players found the net. Algeria's Youcef Belaili scored from the penalty spot to give Ajaccio victory over Angers (1-0). Mohamed Bayo, for his part, scored his first goal of the season. Having arrived from Clermont in the summer, he scored against his former club, who were beaten 2-0. Finally, Senegal's Mbaye Niang had opened the scoring for AJA against Monaco (2-3).
