No sooner had the Diamond League 2023 season ended than the organisers moved quickly to draw up the calendar for the 2023-2024 campaign. The season opener is set for 20 April 2024 in Xiamen, China. The finals are scheduled for 13 and 14 September in Brussels.

Africa will also feature on the circuit. The Morocco leg is scheduled for 19 May. For now, the city of Marrakech is tipped to host the event, because the Prince Moulay Abdellah complex in Rabat is undergoing renovation ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. As a result, the Mohammed VI international meeting will probably have to move to the "ochre city". It would then be the 4th stop on the Diamond League circuit, out of the 15 to be held in the 2024 season.

The Diamond League was launched for the first time in 2010 by World Athletics. It replaced the IAAF Golden League, which had been running since 1998. "Points are awarded to athletes based on their performances at each meeting in the Diamond League and the top eight athletes in each event qualify for the final," reads matin.ma. "The winner of the final in each event receives a Diamond League trophy. Each stop features a selection of athletics events: sprints, middle-distance races, hurdles, jumps, throws and relays. The programme varies at each Diamond League meeting, and only the final includes all the events," the same source adds.
