Pitso Mosimane, one of the most decorated coaches in Africa, has been sacked by Al Wahda. Mosimane will be replaced by Dutch coach Arno Buitenweg, who will serve as interim until the Emirati club find a permanent successor.
Potential destinations
Mosimane is not expected to be out of work for long, though. Several clubs on the African continent are already in position. Some reports already suggest he has been approached by Egyptian giants Zamakek SC. Others say South Africa's Kaizer Chiefs are also very keen to bring him in.
Mosimane has won several major trophies during his career, including the CAF Champions League three times with Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly. He also led Al Ahly to two CAF Super Cups and one Egyptian Cup, as well as two bronze medals at the Club World Cup.
Spell at Al Wahda
Mosimane joined Al Wahda in July 2023 in the UAE Pro League. He leaves the team in fifth place, five points behind leaders Al Wasl, after 10 matches in all competitions. In the league, Mosimane's record stands at 4 wins and 3 defeats after 7 matches. Worse still, Mosimane also failed to go far in the UAFA Arab Club Champions Cup, as they were knocked out by Saudi side Al Shabab in the quarter-finals.
