Back in Mali empty-handed from the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the CNOSM has since been caught up in financial controversy, notably over the funds released by the State for the Olympics. Officially, the sum was 368 million CFA francs, but the Olympic Committee says it received only 93,921,633 CFA francs, a gap of more than 274 million…
Faced with this muddle, Sports Minister Adoul Kassim Fomba has requested an audit from the Directorate of Finance and has also refused to hold a hearing with CNOSM president Habib Sissoko, the emblematic figure who has been in post for more than 24 years and was re-elected unopposed, though not without tension, this summer.

Another inspection on the way?
Revealed by the Malian press, the affair has also drawn the attention of Mali's Auditor General, Samba Alhamadou Baby, who has taken up the case on his own initiative. For nearly two weeks, his team has been at work and has questioned Habib Sissoko on the origin of each of the grants received by his committee (and how they were used).
According to information from Sport News Africa, the Pôle économique is also preparing to carry out its own inspection on the basis of a complaint filed by Sidy Bagayoko, president of the Malian Cycling Federation and a declared opponent of Sissoko.
