Martial Godo, already too big for Strasbourg?

Having arrived in Strasbourg in strict anonymity from Fulham last summer, Martial Godo has revealed himself this season. Martial Godo, already too big for Strasbourg?

Aged 23, Martial Godo had the best season of his career. Very talented, he has all the qualities to repeat the same performances or more in the coming years. But still playing for RC Strasbourg?

A successful first season in Strasbourg

Martial Godo celebrates a goal with Strasbourg

A pure product of the English team, Martial Godo left England for the first time in his career. A successful first in Ligue 1. Under the colors of Strasbourg, the new Ivorian international shone with very good statistics. The London native played 44 games in all competitions (2795 minutes of play) for 16 goals and 6 assists.

Godo had a thunderous debut with the Alsatians. On the fourth day of Ligue 1, his first match in Strasbourg, he delivered an assist against Le Havre. He opened his scoring against Angers on October 5, 2025, with a double in the 7th day during his team’s 5-0 victory.

Martial Godo finished the 2025-2026 season as he started it. He scored a sensational double, allowing Strasbourg to beat AS Monaco (5-4) at the end of a crazy match, on the 34th and last day of Ligue 1.

A necessary change of club

Martial Godo on fire

Although he is under contract until June 2030, Martial Godo could leave Strasbourg. The team finished 8th and is not expected to play in any European cup next season. However, the 23-year-old left-winger needs to play a series of high-level matches to accelerate his progress.

A start this summer should take place. Beyond his impressive statistics, Martial Godo is a real plus in the game. He is versatile, being able to play left, right and behind the striker. Technical, fast, physical and intelligent in the game, the native of London should not miss any contenders.

Last April, three clubs showed sensitivity to his profile. According to information from Sportsboom, West Ham, Leeds and Aston Villa have expressed interest in the Ivorian player. Manchester United also has views on the Elephant. Recruited at only 7 million, the left wing could replenish the coffers of his club in case of departure, since the Racing Club of Strasbourg claims an amount of 50 million euros for its jewel.

As a reservist on Emerse Faé’s list and having less chance to play in the 2026 World Cup, Martial Godo could use this summer to find himself a new base. A better club that will match his profile, in order to showcase all his qualities.
