Nicolas Jackson shone for Chelsea last night. The Senegalese striker scored a goal and provided two assists in the 4-3 friendly win over Brighton. The performance earned the 22-year-old the man of the match award. His manager Mauricio Pochettino was impressed. "This type of game is important for him to feel what it means to play in the Premier League ," the Argentine manager told the press at first.
Pochettino then opened up a little more on Nicolas Jackson. "I think when Chelsea sign a player like him, it's because they detect something important in the quality and talent. He's a great talent, he needs time to adapt to the new club, the Premier League. He's young too, we have to help him develop and grow and be an important player for Chelsea."

Filling a void
The former PSG coach was also asked how Nicolas Jackson will be used. Chelsea have other talented attacking players, including Christopher Nkunku. When a journalist asked the coach whether the two could start together, he did not hesitate: "Of course, in the coming matches we will be able to play them together. It's just that, given their physical condition, we have to use both to share the minutes."
Signed for €38 million, Nicolas Jackson has a chance to make his mark at the head of the Blues' attack. They lacked a cutting edge last season. Their top scorer was Kai Havertz (9 goals), who has since left the club and joined Arsenal. The 22-year-old Senegalese must therefore seize the opportunity. There is no doubt that his display against Brighton already earns him some credit.
