On Saturday 11 February 2023, Monaco claimed the scalp of Paris Saint-Germain (3-1) in the 23rd round of Ligue 1 fixtures. Krépin Diatta played a part in the win. The Senegal international (29 caps, 2 goals) started the game and also provided an assist. The player turns 24 on 23 February. His manager Philippe Clement gave his verdict on the performance of his protégé, who, according to the Belgian coach, is on the right track.

"It's normal that he (Krépin Diatta) needed time to come back, he had a very serious injury and was out of action for eight months, and he actually returned more quickly thanks to the work he did with the staff. He is also developing more and more understanding with his team-mates and he is one of the players who still has a very large margin for improvement", Philippe Clément admitted to the club's media after the match.

Rediscovering the Krépin Diatta of Bruges

After his serious knee injury last season, Krépin Diatta has managed to come back and become an important player for AS Monaco again. This season, the midfielder has played 19 games in Ligue 1 (14 starts), scoring 2 goals and providing 2 assists. Even so, Clément does not want to settle for that. He wants to see the same player he previously coached at Club Bruges.

"I saw him play even better games than today at Bruges. But I am pleased with what he is showing. I think, though, that he must be even sharper with his end product, like Golo (Alexander Goovin, editor's note), who has taken many steps forward in recent months". Krépin Diatta will have another chance to show what he can do on Thursday. Monaco will face Bayer Leeverkusen in the Europa League play-off.
