Morocco's qualification for the 2022 World Cup semi-finals has not gone unnoticed. While the scenes of celebration on the streets of the Sherifian Kingdom were sensational, the party was just as good on social media. Above all, plenty of celebrities admired the achievement. Not simply for reaching the last four, but above all for being the first African nation to achieve such a feat at a World Cup.

Elon Musk, the new owner of Twitter, wrote: "Congratulations Morocco!" Former Germany international Mesut Özil also sent his congratulations. "Proud! What a team! What an achievement for the African continent and the Muslim world! It's wonderful to see that such a fairytale is still possible in modern football - it will give so many people so much strength and hope!" French-Algerian journalist Nabil Djellit also had a word for Bono's men.

The run is crazy: Croatia, Belgium, Spain and Portugal... 5 matches played against real teams and the only one who managed to score a goal against Morocco is Aguerd... pic.twitter.com/p5rzZL0asL

For Africa

Morocco coach Walid Regragui also gave his reaction after the match. Only in charge of the team since September, he spoke emotionally to beIN Sports. "We had to write the history of Africa, and we've done it. It's not a question of respect, we're moving forward on our own qualities. We lost a lot of players, we hung in there and we built a mindset. Africa is centre stage. I hope I've opened the door for African coaches, we're working, we're progressing. I want to thank all the staff, but it's not over, as I said". For his part, captain Romain Saïss said: "It's madness, it's historic, you play football to experience moments like this. We've shown we have quality and we no longer need to feel inferior. Like all the African teams, we played with our heart".

Morocco's World Cup is LEGENDARY 🔥

🤝 Draw with Croatia 🇭🇷
✅ Victory over Belgium 🇧🇪
✅ Victory over Canada 🇨🇦
✅ Knock out Spain 🇪🇸
✅ Knock out Portugal 🇵🇹

And all that while conceding just one goal, an own goal! 😱🇲🇦 pic.twitter.com/7HpJgTyKNw
