The Basketball World Cup trophy will be in Côte d'Ivoire on 15 and 16 May. It is good news secured from basketball's global governing body by Coulibaly Mahama, president of the Ivorian Basketball Federation. The head of basketball in Côte d'Ivoire took advantage of being in the Philippines for the group draw on Saturday 29 April to negotiate and secure the first stop for the 2023 World Cup trophy. Côte d'Ivoire will be the first qualified African nation to host the traditional "Trophy Tour" launched by FIBA. After Côte d'Ivoire, the trophy will fly on to Cape Verde, Egypt, Angola and South Sudan in turn, the continent's representatives at the 19th edition of the World Cup.
