Nigeria are the first team to reach the round of 16 at this U20 World Cup. The Flying Eagles have won both of their two games, beating the Dominican Republic 2-1 and Italy 2-0 respectively. It was a fine performance from the Nigerians, though hardly a surprise given the team's record in this competition. They have rarely disappointed. In 13 appearances, the Flying Eagles have reached the second round on nine occasions. They even finished on the podium on their first appearance, in 1985. Better still, the five-time African champions have reached the final twice, in 1989 and 2005. In Argentina, the coach has his sights set on a third final for Nigeria.

"For now, we are still a work in progress. We are still in the tournament and we will never be satisfied until we play the final," said Ladan Bosso after his side's win over Italy.

Midfielder Victor Eletu, who played a leading role in the win over the Italians, echoed that view. "I'm very happy with the way the team played because we showed great character. I know we can go far in this competition because we have a very good team. We played as a team and that's why we were able to beat an opponent as strong as Italy," said the AC Milan player.

Top of Group D, the Nigerians will face Brazil (3 pts) in their final match. Beaten by Italy (3-2) in their opener, the Brazilians thrashed the Dominican Republic (6-0) in their second game. Cause for concern for the Flying Eagles? Not at all. "We will play a normal game against Brazil. I think they can be beaten," said the coach. Kick-off is on Saturday 27 May at 18:00 GMT.
