The 2023 World Taekwondo Championships are currently under way in Azerbaijan, coinciding with the World Taekwondo Federation's fiftieth anniversary. Before Cissé Cheick and Gbané Seydou, among others, get their campaigns started, Ivory Coast has been able to count on one of its medal hopes, Gbagbi Ruth. The 2021 world champion took bronze in the women's under-67kg category. It happened on 30 May at the Crystal Hall in Baku. She was beaten in the semi-final of her category by France's world number 1, Magda Wiet-Henin. It is Ivory Coast's first medal at these 2023 World Championships.
