Having lost six in a row, the Toronto Raptors pulled off a notable result on Wednesday night against the New York Knicks. The Canadian side finally got back to winning ways by ending the run of Tom Thibodeau's men who, unlike their opponents, came in on a winning streak of eight straight victories. The Toronto Raptors looked the better side for much of the game, and can thank their man of the moment: Pascal Siakam. On fire, the Cameroonian dropped 52 points on 17/25 shooting. It is a career high for the 28-year-old.

Pascal Siakam and his team-mates came close to suffering a seventh straight defeat in this game, though. After leading for long spells, the Canadians saw the Knicks draw level with two minutes left (102-102, 46th minute). That was the moment the Cameroonian chose to remind everyone that he was the one calling the shots. He scored his last seven points of the period, including a tough final basket, with the foul, to settle it in the closing moments.

Pascal Siakam thus becomes the second Toronto player to pass the 50-point mark in a game, behind his team-mate Fred VanVleet. The latter was quick to praise his performance after the game. "He's a special player and special players shine in the big moments. He's putting his name alongside great players with this performance here. He carried us tonight, it was incredible, it's great to see him in such form," he said happily.
