Didier Drogba may have swapped the shirt and boots for a suit and tie, but his passion for football hasn't faded one bit. If anything, it has grown. Invited to speak at the World Trade Organization in Geneva in his capacity as an ambassador for the World Organisation for Sport and Health, the former Elephants captain talked at length about how football has evolved and its impact on society.
"Football isn't just about winning or losing, it's also about learning to live together, as part of a team made up of people of different nationalities," he said from the outset. The Chelsea legend did not have to look far to back up his point. "For example, at Chelsea, I played with Russians, Ukrainians, Germans, Ivorians, Ghanaians, and we had to learn to live together, to respect each other's culture and to play for the same shirt."
For Didier Drogba, football is a true school of life. "These are values you earn and learn by playing football. It's something every child should learn," explains the man who is also a FIFA ambassador.
