After a failed 2024-2025 season, Real Madrid have made drastic changes. Carlo Ancelotti is out and Xabi Alonso takes over in the dugout. The Spanish coach, who took his first training session on Sunday 8 June, is expected to make several changes to the Merengue squad. And Brahim Diaz could be a casualty of this drive for renewal.
Back at the club since the 2023 summer transfer window, the Morocco international (10 caps, 8 goals) was initially a key figure in the Liga-Champions League double in 2023-2024, with 11 goals and 8 assists in 42 games in all competitions, including several eye-catching and impressive appearances off the bench to make a difference. But last season, the 25-year-old was less effective, with 6 goals and 6 assists in 48 games.
Changes on the horizon at Real Madrid
Able to play behind the striker or out wide, Brahim Diaz has reason to be worried. Real Madrid are counting on Turkish gem Arda Güler, as well as on the other top talent arriving from Argentina, Franco Mastantuono. Elsewhere, Rodrygo Goes, long tipped to leave, should stay in Madrid. And with Mbappé, Vinicius and Bellingham there, attacking places will come at a premium. In addition, Florentino Perez will need funds to finance the various signings, and the Moroccan could be a casualty.

Brahim Diaz is therefore heading into a pivotal summer transfer window. According to Fichajes, Real could let him go for an offer of around 60 million euros.
Leave, but for where?
The question of his destination therefore arises. Technical, quick and willing to do defensive work, Brahim Diaz could be a useful addition for quite a few European clubs looking for a reliable attacking option. A few weeks ago, the Spanish media reported interest from Arsenal in the Moroccan star. A return to the Premier League, after his spell at Manchester City, could allow him to finally play a major role at a big club.
However, a decision is not expected immediately, but after the Club World Cup, which starts this weekend.
