Rennes: Habib Beye on an inevitable end
Habib Beye is no longer the coach of the Stade Rennais. The Senegalese was officially sacked on Monday, February 9, 2026. A logical continuation in view of the chaotic situation of the Rennes locker room.

One too many incident. Tuesday, February 3, after a 3-0 defeat at the Stade Vélodrome in Marseille, Habib Beye had decided to dismiss Brice Samba after an altercation. The French goalkeeper was also not in the game for the trip to Lens (defeat 1-3) last weekend.
A balance sheet yet positive
After this new setback, the 4th in a row, Valentin Rongier had unequivocal words:
"No one divides, we are together and we will show it by the end of the season. It’s a difficult time, we return home with one more defeat. You just have to raise your head and I have a thought for our supporters who continue to be behind us. They are also going through a complicated period and it annoys us for them. Let them be certain that no one will give up. Finally, the former defender of OM paid for himself.
Yet, Rennes is today 6th in Ligue 1 with 31 points, 8 points behind the 4th place held by Olympique de Marseille and qualifier for the Champions League.
An unrecoverable locker room
The sporting situation is therefore not fatal for Habib Beye. The latter had taken over the reins of the Breton club while he was at the back of the group, 16th in Ligue 1. He then managed to finish in 12th place.
However, not everything was always rosy with the Rouge et Noir. First, there were tensions with Séko Fofana, but also Brice Samba at the beginning of the season. Then, after being comforted by its leaders, and after having several victories in succession, there were these four defeats, and especially new tensions in the locker room. This pushed the Rennes leaders to crack down.
It remains to be seen where Habib Beye will bounce. As a reminder, the Senegalese technician has only known two clubs: Red Star and Stade Rennais.
