Summer transfer window 2026: the Fennecs active on the transfer market

The result: a particularly lively summer transfer window is looming for several of Vladimir Petković’s squad regulars, with imminent departures, financial showdowns, and yet-unknown destinations.

Anis Hadj Moussa, the rising star setting the market alight

At 24, Feyenoord’s right winger is undoubtedly the hottest name in this Algerian transfer window. His rise has been dizzying: signed for €1.8 million in the summer of 2024 from Belgian club Patro Eisden, today he’s valued at over €20 million, and Feyenoord is now demanding upwards of €40 million to let him go.

The Rotterdam club has already turned down several substantial offers, including a Saudi proposal from Al Hilal exceeding €30 million, as well as declared interest from Al Ahli and Olympique de Marseille. But the player appears to have made his choice: heading to the Premier League. Newcastle United and Aston Villa are seen as frontrunners, given established contacts and close monitoring of the situation. In fact, the player’s “like” on a post from an Aston Villa supporter account helped fuel speculation.

Under contract until 2030, Hadj Moussa has left no doubt about his loyalty while he remains tied to the club: "I am still under contract with Feyenoord," he reminded everyone before the World Cup. But everything suggests a departure is now set in his mind as well as that of his management.

Rafik Belghali

During CAN 2025, Africa discovered Rafik Beelghali. The rest of the world got to know him better during the 2026 World Cup. The right back was one of the few Algerians to live up to expectations, which allowed him to catch the eye of several clubs. According to Foot Mercto, AS Roma is going all-in on him. However, several other Italian clubs are also interested.

Indeed, Inter Milan, seeking a replacement for Denzel Dumfries who went to Real, also wants to sign Belghali.

Mohamed Amoura, collateral victim of Wolfsburg’s relegation

Another case sure to make headlines: Mohamed Amoura. The 26-year-old striker is going through a rough patch. Hindered by an injury sustained just before Algeria’s second match in the World Cup, he was forced to withdraw and missed the rest of the tournament; to make matters worse, his club VfL Wolfsburg ended up relegated to Bundesliga 2 at the end of the 2025-2026 season.

A contractual clause providing for a 35% wage cut in the event of relegation is now pushing the player toward the exit. Wolfsburg hopes to recoup up to €50 million, an amount the player’s entourage considers excessive and is trying to reduce. His market value, which peaked at €32 million a few months earlier, has reportedly dropped to around €20 million.

Benfica Lisbon and Everton are closely monitoring the situation, as is Stade Rennais, which was positioning itself but now faces competition from clubs with greater resources.

Other cases to watch

Ramy Bensebaïni (Borussia Dortmund): The versatile defender, able to play centrally or as a left-back, had already attracted interest from Galatasaray last winter. That case could resurface this summer depending on his playing time at Dortmund.

Himad Abdelli (OM): Having arrived in Marseille only this winter, Himad Abdelli could already leave the Canebière. OM is looking for cash and could put him on the market, as he failed to convince during his first six months.

Rafik Guitane (Estoril): Now a regular starter in Portugal after a difficult start, the 26-year-old winger could see his contract extended, but is already attracting interest from other clubs.

Mohamed Amine Tougaï (ES Tunis): The central defender, suspended for a year by the Tunisian disciplinary commission after an incident in the league, is reportedly close to a transfer to the Libyan club Al Ahli Tripoli, for a fee of around €1.7 million.

This 2026 summer transfer window confirms the rise of the Fennecs in the European market: with the €40 million expected for Hadj Moussa and €50 million demanded for Amoura, Algeria could break several transfer records for its internationals. The coming weeks, right up until the close of the window, promise to be decisive for these moves.
