January 2017: a missed AFCON 2017
Zambo Anguissa could have counted the AFCON 2017 victory in his record list. But no! Young player and playing at the time for Olympique de Marseille, he could have been part of the final squad for the Indomitable Lions. He declined this call-up to focus on his club. He followed from afar, to everyone's surprise, Cameroon’s triumph in this competition against Egypt on February 5, 2017 at Libreville stadium in Gabon.
March 24, 2017: his debut with the Indomitable Lions
A few months after turning down his call-up for AFCON 2017, Zambo Anguissa finally played for Cameroon. On March 24, 2017, he made his debut with the Indomitable Lions against Tunisia in a friendly. The Cameroonian national team won by the narrowest of margins (1-0).
June 22, 2017: first goal with Cameroon
Having made his debut in March 2017, the Napoli midfielder participated in the Confederations Cup in June 2017, in Russia. Zambo Anguissa scored his first goal for the national team during this tournament. It was against Australia on the second matchday in Group B, in Saint Petersburg. The match ended in a draw (1-1).

February 5, 2022: bronze medalist at AFCON 2021
Even though he was not able to win AFCON with Cameroon, Zambo Anguissa at least earned a bronze medal after a spectacular third-place match against Burkina Faso (3-3 and then 5-3 on penalties). Cameroon finished third at AFCON 2021, as the host country, at the Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium in Yaoundé. During this tournament, the midfielder was very valuable in the heart of the game.
Zambo Anguissa played 6 matches, all as a starter (559 minutes). Even though he did not score or provide any assists, he was important in midfield with his tackles (2.5 per match), interceptions (one on average per match) and duels won (43%).
November 2022: participation in the 2022 World Cup
On November 10, 2022, coach Rigobert Song announced his list of Cameroonian players for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. André-Frank Zambo Anguissa, a true leader in midfield, was included.
