UFC: Gautier Ateba, time to face Israel Adesanya?

Even in the darkest series of his career, Israel Adesanya (24-6-0) continues to dream. The UFC legend and former middleweight world champion received a "call-out" from the new attraction of the American organization, Gautier Ateba (11-1-0) who expressed the wish to face him in a fight that will resemble a handover between two generations.


For Gautier Ateba, the year 2026 is off to a great start. After a success against Andrey Pulyaev on January 24 for his first fight, the 24-year-old Cameroonian was fighting his second fight of the year at UFC 328 in New Jersey, USA against Osman Diazz.

In the preliminary of the main event that saw Khamzat Chimaev lose to Sean Strickland, Gautier Ateba made short work of his opponent, winning after two rounds with a finish once again terrifying. The fight lasted only one minute and ten seconds after the takeover, thus confirming the striking power of Ateba, capable of fulgurances in the octagon to finish off her opponents.

After this new show of force, the tenth consecutive victory since his defeat against Glenn Williams in July 2022, Ateba admitted that he was not aiming for KO against Diazz. "I went into the cage thinking, 'I’ll last 15 minutes. If he hangs up before 15 minutes, that’s good, but if he keeps going, it’s not a problem... I didn’t even try to knock him out. After his victory against the American, Gautier Ateba, at 24 years old, made an appeal to the immense Israel Adesanya whom he admired and would like to fight soon.

 «I am a huge fan of Israel. I love all his fights. For me, it’s a legend. No one will ever be able to change that; it’s a legend. I admire him a lot. He is an African fighter who does very well. So, I want to face him. He will be a formidable opponent... I don’t really want to fight him, but I see in him an incredible strength," 

said Gautier after his win against Ozzy.

For now, 'The Last Stylebender' has not yet responded to this call-out, but he might be interested in this option to close the loop or consider another relaunch attempt, knowing that he doesn’t want to give up at 36 and after four consecutive losses. «How can we move forward again? You keep going. Again, again, and again, and again... I’m not fucking leaving.
