He is only 17 years old, but his name is already circulating in the halls of Europe's youth academies. Alassana Bagayogo, a versatile winger capable of playing across the entire frontline, has built a reputation that extends far beyond the borders of Burkina Faso. His nickname, “Petit Messi,” speaks volumes about the expectations resting on his shoulders.
A talent already experienced at the national top level
Despite his young age, Bagayogo is already playing matches in the Burkinabè first division with AJEB, a club presided over by Bertrand and Alain Traoré, two illustrious predecessors who can guide him on the path to success. On the field, he stands out for his physical strength, mobility, and ability to play in various attacking positions, qualities that explain the growing interest he is attracting.
A well-filled international career already
The young striker already has 17 caps with Burkina Faso's U17 squad. He represented his country at the 2025 U17 AFCON held in Morocco, then at the U17 World Cup in Qatar. But it was with the U20 national team that he recently shone: during a qualifying tournament for the U20 AFCON, he was one of the architects of the Stallions’ victory in the final against Nigeria (4–1), scoring a goal and providing an assist. His performance earned him the Man of the Match title.
Heading to Europe?
These repeated performances have not escaped the attention of European scouts. According to information from Foot Mercato, the French club Sochaux is among the teams interested in the player’s profile. Bagayogo has already had several trials abroad, notably with Auxerre in France, but also in Switzerland, with an upcoming visit planned in Scandinavia.
At a time when several leagues are watching for the emergence of young African talents, Bagayogo’s journey illustrates a now-classic path: establishing yourself at home before trying your luck on the Old Continent. The only question is which club will dare to move first to secure the services of this promising winger. One thing is certain: wherever he goes, all eyes will be on Alassane Bagayoko.
