With him, you never know what to expect. Well, you do: inconsistency over a season. Wilfried Zaha has undeniable talent, spotted in his teenage years by Manchester United, who identified him very early at Palace. The Ivory Coast international, who grew up in England, has never managed to make it count for his teams over a full season. He is most often very fit in the summer, starting the season at a sprint, before going into a long hibernation in winter. That is the case again this season.

After scoring four goals in the first four matchdays, Wilfried Zaha had not found the net since November 2022, before the World Cup break. It was only this Saturday, in the 34th round of Premier League fixtures, that the Elephant roared again. He scored the Eagles' 2nd goal as they won 4-3 against West Ham and all but secured their survival.

With that goal, Wilfried Zaha now has 7 league goals, half as many as last season. He will need to keep it going to reach a third consecutive season with 10 goals in the Premier League. That would boost his value, with his contract at Crystal Palace expiring in June. At 30, it may be time for the Ivory Coast forward to look elsewhere, to a club a touch more ambitious than Crystal Palace, where he has played since 2015. For the time being, he has also turned down all the offers from the Eagles' board.
