Football: Africa - Europe express

Once again, African players made their marks in several European leagues (outside the top five). This was notably the case in Belgium, but also in Moldova and Turkey.

Albania: Malian Saliou Guindo scored twice to help fourth-placed Laçi win 2-1 at Kukesi. Skenderbeu (8th) dominated Egnatia (2-0), thanks to a goal from Ghanaian Alfred Mensah.

Austria (matchday 18): Sturm Graz (2nd) easily beat Klagenfurt away (3-0), with a brace from Ghanaian Kelvin Yeboah.

Belgium (round 18): Standard Liege (10th) won 3-2 at Royal Antwerp, thanks to a late goal from Jackson Muleka of Congo DR. A goal from Ivorian Emmanuel Agbadou enabled Eupen (8th) to beat Beerschot Antwerp (1-0). Comorian Faïz Selemani gave Kortrijk (9th) a 2-1 victory over Ould-Heverlee. A goal from Togo's Loïc Bessilé gave fourth-placed Charleroi a 1-0 win over Ostend, while Ivorian Christian Kouamé scored one of five goals for fifth-placed Anderlecht at Seraing (5-0).

Bulgaria (matchday 19): Beroe (8th) and Levski Sofia (6th) drew 1-1. Senegalese Alioune Fall scored for the home side, Moroccan Bilal Bari for the team from the capital.

Croatia (19th round): Mauritanian Abdallahi Mahmoud and Burkinabe Hassane Bandé scored two of the three goals for NK Istra (8th) against Hrvatski (3-0).

Greece (Matchday 13): Olympiakos Piraeus (1st) beat Aris Salonika (1-0), thanks to Pape Abou Cissé of Senegal.

Luxembourg (round 15): Moroccan Samir Hadji scored two goals to help first-placed Dudelange to a 4-0 win at Hamm Benfica, while Algerian Idir Boutrif scored a goal as fourth-placed Fola Esch beat Union Titus Pétange 3-0.

Malta (round 12): Mosta FC (9th) drew at Birkirkara (2-2) thanks to Nigerians Sunday Akindule and Johnson Nsumoh.

Moldova (late game): Sheriff Tiraspol took the lead in the standings with a 4-0 win over Zimbru Chisinau. Guinea's Momo Yansané scored a hat-trick in the process.

Northern Macedonia (Matchday 18): Leaders Shkupi put up little resistance against Borec (3-0), with Nigerian Sunday Adetunji scoring twice.

Northern Ireland (round 18): Second-placed Linfield FC were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Warrenpoint Town, despite Congolese forward Christy Manzinga scoring the opening goal.

Netherlands (round 16): Ajax Amsterdam (2nd) lost their place at the top of the table after losing at home to AZ Alkmaar (1-2), despite a goal from Ivorian Sébastien Haller. The Moroccan Zakaria Aboukhal scored the winning goal late in the game.

Czech Republic (matchday 18): Ceske Budejovice (7th) beat Sigma Olomouc (2-1), thanks in particular to Nigerian Fortune Bassey.

Russia (round 18): Burkina Faso's Mohamed Konate scored two of the four goals (including a penalty) in FK Akhmat's 4-1 win over Khimki.

Slovakia (Matchday 18): Second-placed Spartak Trnava beat Zemplin 2-0, with Nigerian Yusuf Bamidele scoring the only goal.

Slovenia (20th round): Koper (1st), despite a goal from Gambian Lamin Colley, were held by Mura (2-2). Tabor (8th) got the better of Celje (2-1), with Gabonese Fahd Ndzengue scoring one of his team's two goals.

Switzerland (round 17): Young Boys Berne (4th) dominated FC Sion (4-3), thanks to a penalty from Cameroonian Nicolas Ngamaleu and a brace from Ivorian Wilfried Kanga.

Turkey (round 16): Alanyaspor (6th), made a real attacking festival at Yeni Malatyaspor (6-2). The Senegalese Famara Diédhiou - with two goals including a penalty and Khouma Babacar played an active role. Angolan Fredy scored one of Antalyaspor's two goals from the penalty spot against leaders Trabzonspor (2-1). Hatayspor (3rd) won at Altay Izmir (2-1), with a goal from Senegalese Mame Biram Diouf.
