In an interview with Spanish media Marca, Andre Onana explained the reasons for the upcoming departure. "There are many discussions. I have been linked with Barcelona, Inter, Arsenal, Lyon, Nice, Monaco... while I was at home on suspension. I don't know. It's true that we didn't reach an agreement with Ajax and I'm grateful to the club for the opportunity they gave me. Now, after almost seven years, I think it's time to take a step forward, leave and make room for others. Ajax always give opportunities to young players and there are many goalkeepers in the youth academy waiting for this chance. I have to leave. Where, I don't know, but I need something new to compete with the best goalkeepers.
