Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has described his experience against Liverpool as 'bittersweet' as his Serie A side cruised into am incredible 4-1 Champions League triumph.

The Nigeria international had his penalty saved by Allison Becker before he was substituted for Giovanni Simeone in the first half after picking up a knock in the five-goal thriller at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Despite the early exit of the Nigerian, the Parthenopeans subdued the Reds with Piotr Zielinski bagging a brace, while Giovanni Simeone and Andre Zambo Anguissa also found the net.

In view of his outing, the 23-year-old forward took to social media to recount his mixed feelings about his encounter with the English team, while applauding his colleagues for the amazing win.

“Bittersweet feeling for me, Great Performance from the whole squad, God is the greatest. We move,” Osimhen wrote on Twitter.

Osimhen was named in Spalletti’s starting XI and was saddled with the duty of getting the goals against Liverpool – while counting on the services from Matteo Politano, Piotr Zielinski, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Before his taking off, the former Lille goal machine was a thorn in the flesh of the English team and was instrumental for Virgil van Dijk’s caution by Carlos del Cerro.

Although no updates on the severity of the Super Eagle’s injury, he is not likely to be back in action for Saturday’s Italian top-flight fixture against Spezia.
