A list of 26 players have been released this evening by head coach of the Indomitable Lions, Rigobert Song after the friendly encounter against Jamaica at the Omnisport Stadium.
A press conference was initially scheduled for Thursday Nov. 10, but there was a late tweak by coach Rigobert Song and the backroom staff, to publish the list immediately after the game against Jamaica.
It was a dramatic end as the Indomitable qualifiers for the indomitable Lions who
went through a tense affair over two legs against Algeria, who held a 1-0 advantage going into the second match in Bilda.
Eric Choupo-Moting’s first-half goal had taken the match into extra-time but Algeria looked to have booked their spot in Qatar when Ahmed Touba headed home with three minutes remaining.
Cameroon, though, were not to be denied and Toko Ekambi swept home the winner to secure an African record-extending eighth appearance at the World Cup, thus, cameroon’s participation.
Regulars; Andre Onana, Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa, Vincent Aboubakar, Toko Ekambi and Choupo Moting all keep their places in the team.
Song will be thanking his stars that some of his players have been able to avoid injury, plus, be in impeccable form, including Choupo Moting, who has scored 10 goals in all competitions so far for Bayern, despite starting the season as a bench warmer. Bryan Mbeumo of Brentford will be playing his first competition in indomitable Lions’ colors, after chosing Cameroon over France. The winger has scored 3 goals this season.
Cameroon will play first against Panama in Abu Dhabi, then officially start their tourney against Switzerland on November 24.
