Tanzania PL: Simba SC close gap on table leaders Young Africans - Highlights

Simba Sports Club returned to their winning ways with a 3-1 victory away to KMC SC in a Tanzania Premier League match played on Monday at the CCM Kirumba Stadium, Mwanza.

After dropping points a few days ago when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Kagera Sugar FC, head coach Juma Mgunda’s team returned hungry to bag maximum points to close the gap on their rivals Young Africans SC.

Veteran John Bocco gave the visitors the lead after 16 minutes, but KMC made it 1-1 after 52 minutes through Sadala Lipangile. Simba SC continued to push forward and were rewarded with goals by Augustine Okrah and Henock Inonga.

“This is a very good win and we must keep the momentum,” said Simba’s coach Mgunda after the match. The win helped Simba SC close the gap on Young Africans SC by six points.

Young Africans SC increased their lead on the log to 47 points when they defeated Azam FC 3-2 in a match played at the Azam Stadium on Christmas Day. After 18 matches played Simba SC have also moved to 41 points, while Azam FC are third on the log with 37 points.

In another match played on Monday bottom placed Polisi Tanzania SC held Coastal Union FC to a 3-3 draw.

Ali Rutlbinga netted the first goal for Polisi Tanzania, while Kelvin Sabato netted a brace. Vincent Abubakar and Gustapha Saimon were on target for Coastal Union, while an own goal by Chilo Mkama also helped Coastal Union take a point from the match.

Fourth placed Singida Big Stars FC also picked a 1-0 away win to Dodoma Jiji FC. Brazilian Bruno Gomes netted the lone goal after 80 minutes.
