Uganda Premier League champions Vipers Sports Club have unveiled a new coach Roberto Luiz Bianchi Pellister.
The Brazilian-Spaniard who signed a two year contract was unveiled on Tuesday at the Club’s home ground, St. Marys Stadium in Kitende.
He takes over from Brazilian Roberto Oliveira who stepped down two weeks ago and immediately joined Tanzania Premier League side, Simba Sports Club.
“We are happy to bring another experienced coach who should be able to drive the Club to several achievements,” said the Club President Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa.’
The 56-year-old will work together with countryman Roberto Martinez as the assistant, while Richard Wasswa will be the second assistant coach, while Ibrahim Mugisha remains as the goalkeepers’ coach.
The new coach made it clear that he is in Uganda for serious work and to make sure the Club achieves. “We need to work as a team to make sure we achieve our set targets,” added the coach.
Roberto Luiz Bianchi Pellister who is a UEFA A Pro license holder will be tasked to defend the Uganda Premier League title, win the Uganda Cup and also guide Vipers SC to the next level of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League.
He takes over when the team is placed third on the 2022/2023 Uganda Premier League log after the first round, while they are also for the first time in the group stage of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League.
In Africa Roberto Luiz Bianchi Pellister worked for Petro du Luanda of Angola (2016-2019) and also guided the Angolan national team in 2017. – The Palancas Negras in 2017.
Meanwhile, Vipers SC have also completed the signing of Martin Kizza and Karim Ndugwa in the January transfer window. Kizza who left Express FC last June and has been clubless and Kizza from Bidco FC both signed two year contracts.
