The first day of the group stage of the 20th edition of the CAF Cup begins this Sunday, February 12. Eight matches are scheduled, including a tempting Pyramids FC vs ASFAR at 19 hours (GMT).
After the kick-off of the CAF Champions League on Friday, February 10, it's the turn of the Confederation Cup to make its debut this Sunday for the first day of the group stage. Sixteen teams, divided into 4 groups, will try to succeed RS Berkane, winner of the last edition.

Pyramids FC vs ASFAR, the attraction of match day 1
Eight matches are scheduled this Sunday. The attraction of the day will certainly be the duel between Pyramids FC (Egypt) and ASFAR (Morocco) in pool B. The Egyptians, unfortunate finalists in 2020, will have to face the Moroccans who have experience in the competition. The latter have already been crowned in 2005, before losing their title in the final the following season. The match will kick off at 19:00 (GMT).
TP Mazembe, a new life without Trésor Mputu
For the second consecutive time, TP Mazembe will have to settle for the Confederation Cup. The African ogre will also have to learn to cope without its legend Trésor Mputu who has now hung up his boots.
Eliminated in the semi-finals by RS Berkane (4-2 aggregate), the eventual winners of the previous tournament, the Congolese will try to do better in this 20th edition. Twice winners of the second African interclub competition (2016 and 2017), the Crows are housed in pool D with US Monastir (Tunisia), Young Africans (Tanzania) and AS Real Bamako (Mali). For their first match, they receive the Malians of AS Real Bamako at 13h (GMT).
ASEC Mimosas eyeing beyond the groups
ASEC Mimosas wants to restore its reputation on the African scene, after a disappointing participation in the last edition. The Ivorian club had taken the door from the first round. For this edition, the Yellow and Black intend to do things differently. Lodged in the group B, they welcome the Congolese of Daring Club Motema Pembe this Sunday at 4 pm (GMT). The Ivorians will try to launch their tournament against an opponent who has not played in official competition since December 14, 2022.
