Stéphane Sessegnon was at a press conference with his coach Gernot Rohr on Friday 16 June ahead of his side's match against Senegal on Matchday 5 of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. According to the 39-year-old former Paris SG player, he is surrounded by some very talented young players. "I'm lucky to have a team made up of talented youngsters. What's interesting is that these youngsters are receptive. We're there to push them and motivate them," he commented on his role as a veteran in the squad.
Stéphane Sessegnon believes he can achieve something special if he is to progress towards qualification for the 2023 CAF Africa Cup of Nations. "It wouldn't be a revenge match. We know we're playing a defending champion and the most important thing is to concentrate on what we're going to do tomorrow. If we're to have any chance of qualifying, tomorrow's game is vital. In football, you can't take anything for granted. Anything can happen tomorrow. If we've already won Algeria and Ghana, we can always do it again. You have to be positive. We have our fans and that's important," added Stéphane Sessegnon.
